Basic female reproductive parameters |

In order to understand the selective pressures shaping the evolution of a particular species, basic information on its reproductive biology is needed. In addition, basic knowledge of a species’ reproductive parameters is essential for effective conservation of the species. We currently investigate basic reproductive parameters of females such as such length of menstrual cycles, number of cycles to conception, gestation length, distribution of cycles over the year, levels of female sex hormones, inter-birth intervals, number of miscarriages, relationship between reproduction and environmental conditions etc.
