The Macaca Nigra Project has been launched in order to study the ecology and social system of Sulawesi crested black macaques in their natural habitat and to promote the conservation of this fascinating species.

It is a joint project between the German Primate Centre (DPZ) and the Indonesian Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), West Java and  University Sam Ratulangi (UNSRAT), North Sulawesi.
