Conservation
|
In this project, Indonesian students get the opportunity for research training and conservation action, which will hopefully help to increase awareness of conservation problems within the Indonesian scientific community. Since International students also participate in ongoing research studies all experiences are gathered in an international environment. These mixed student groups give the Indonesians the opportunity to practice and improve their English. Before practicing in the field, students receive an introduction into theoretical background and applied field methods. Seminars are also given in Indonesian universities. Modern equipment are used such as handhelds for behavioural data collection, digital audio recorders for sound recording etc. Selected students get additional training in laboratory analyses important for wildlife management at the German Primate Centre. |
We hope that some of our Indonesian students will later on be employed in governmental forestry and science departments and thus be among the future decission makers concerning the fate of Indonesian nature.
