Our mere presence in the area already reduces illegal activities in the Tangkoko-Batuangus Nature reserve. Within the last year, we have found and destroyed more than 70 traps that formed a threat not only to the macaques, but also to other wildlife in the forest. All disturbances are immediately reported to the head of the resort and illegal loggers and hunters have been captured by the rangers on our initiation.

For the near future, we aim at a Memorandum of Understanding with the governmental Department for the Conservation of Natural Resources, Manado, North Sulawesi in order to involve and train rangers in the project to get better support from the official side in protecting the forest.
